BEARS!

Once again with spring and summer the bears are around town.  PLEASE keep bird feeders inside or empty.  When putting trash out, spray bags with a 50/50 bleach water mixture to discourage foraging.

Here are some tips to help keep you and your bear friends safe.

And a small document on Living With Bears

About mid June they will move back into the woods and be able to find more food.

IT’S GETTING TOO HOT

So head up to Eurana Park and hit the stand!  They’re open till 8PM most days!  They serve a variety of food and drink.  They also serve soft serve and hard ice cream with a variety of toppings.   A Sundae would really hit the spot right now!  Also there are are a bevy of drinks and other cool treats!

Primary Election Day!

It’s election day and in Weatherly, we have a race for the mayor’s office, and several council seats. Make sure you’re registered and get out and vote!

Some election results can be found over and WNEP.

Municipal Primaries

As you may have noticed, its getting to be election time again in PA. We’re gearing up the Municipal Primary on May 17th. The deadline for voter registration was April 18th and will reopen May 18th.

Voting takes place at Eurana Park and Tweedle Park.

Moving the Police Station

I’ve been to the Weatherly Police Station a couple times.   The tiny room is cramped even when you’re in there with a single officer.  So  the issue was brought up at the Concil meeting by Norman Richie.

Everyone can agree that the police do work hard for Weatherly, and the size of their closet office should be changed.

There’s really no room for expansion in the former train station which acts as a borough building.

Tom Connors agreed to send a letter to our state representatives to ask for help in relocating our officers to a better facility.

Weatherly Rabies Clinic

Sunday May 1st, Weatherly will hold it’s Rabies Clinic.  Located at the Citizens Fire Company on Spring Street.

The clinic will run from 11:00AM to 1:00PM and cost $10.00 per vaccination.

All pets, dogs and cats must be leashed or in a carrier.

Proceeds will benefit the Weatherly Pound.

Water is almost back to normal.

If you haven’t been showering or running your water, make sure you run your water to flush out the pipes.  But the water is back to normal.  So it is relatively safe now.

To help with future problems. Make sure that the borough office has your Name, Address and Telephone number so they can alert you when there is an issue.

Water

Currently there is an issue with the town’s water supply.  Residents are strongly encouraged to drink bottled water or boil water for consumption due to high bacterial levels.

Update 3/25/2011 2PM :

It looks like we’ve still got an issue.  The DEP is going to be testing our water to see when it’s safe.  Just make sure you don’t drink the water or serve it to your pets.

Bears

Once again Weatherly has a case of the bears!  While cute an cuddly in Teddy form the bears around Weatherly are not so friendly.  Last year they I witnessed the bear causing a bit of trouble going through trash at Eurana park.  The borough has asked residents to take some precautions

Schools Coming to an End

Despite our prayers, the school year is coming to an end.  The elementary and middle school students are out on June 8th (this is a change as they had a few snow days.   Now to think of things to do.  Thank goodness for Eurana Park and the stand.
