Tonight was the spring concert for the Elementary and Middle School music program. Unlike the winter concert, the High School chorus and band did not play. The teachers, Ms. Derr and Ms. Shughart did a great job and their dedication really shows. Hat’s off to both the students and teachers for a great concert!
Weatherly, PA
A Small Town in Pennsylvania
Archive for May, 2010
Despite our prayers, the school year is coming to an end. The elementary and middle school students are out on June 8th (this is a change as they had a few snow days. Now to think of things to do. Thank goodness for Eurana Park and the stand.
I’ve had this domain for awhile and wasn’t ever sure what to do with it so I decided to start putting up my content that I had around and becoming more involved in my town.
It’s a nice place to live, good school, not too noisy, a bit slower than the rest of the world in a good way.
The mayor can be seen driving a minivan around the local gas station and the only grocery store in town shut down this year.
Weatherly hasn’t always been this “quiet,” though early last century it had a steelworks, candy factory and other industries that made it a happening town. But as time has passed the town is primarily a place to sleep.
Despite this, Weatherly is trying to reivent itself in the 21st century. I hope that I am able to share with the world the good and bad that makes Weatherly special!
Talent Show for a Cure
This is one of the neat things about the town you can find something special almost every day. I went to the park and the senior project was taking place, a talent show to raise money for the American Cancer Society. While the performances would not win awards, the attitudes were awesome!
Luckily I had snagged my camera before leaving.
All of the funds are going to the American Cancer Society who help with advocacy, education, prevention, and research. Read More…
